Renowned Geologist Reaffirms Targets
Summary
An independent review by renowned geophysicist Dr Barry Murphy has reaffirmed the exploration potential at our Irvine Gold Project, giving us stronger confidence in where to point the drill bit next.
Dr Murphy's work mapped the underlying fault structures across Irvine using magnetic and Induced Polarisation data. It confirmed the major faults that control the local geology, and identified numerous cross-cutting faults that appear linked to known mineralisation. That link is what gives us increased confidence in the targets we're now drilling.
This reinforces the Exploration Targets we outlined recently: 236koz to 545koz in addition to our existing 398koz inferred JORC Resource. It's worth being clear that these are exploration targets, not a resource. Their potential tonnage and grade are conceptual, there hasn't been enough exploration yet to estimate a Mineral Resource against them, and we don't know if further work will get us there.
What excites us about this is the scale of what's still unknown. Despite 59km of drilling since discovery in 2017, Irvine's geological framework is still being pieced together. Irvine sits just 16km from the operating Stawell Gold Mine, within a goldfield that has produced 5.3Moz to date, and we believe there's a lot more of this system left to find.
Diamond drilling is underway now, testing some of these newly defined targets directly.
